I’m a member of several clubs and organizations at school, but no major leadership.

Frankly, I play video games and chill with my friends after school.

8. In what ways have you gone above and beyond during the summer (even quarantined many kids were taking college courses, etc.)?

I’ve spent most summers doing serious summer research or academic work since 8th grade; OR I’ve been involved in activism and making a difference in my community and beyond.

I have had a job and done some short courses.

I go to camp/travel and have done a one-week leadership program or shorter programs.

I travel with my family or chill on the beach all summer, every summer and don’t want to change this.

9. How do you stand out academically or otherwise?

I’m poised to be named valedictorian, and/or have received major academic awards from high school; and/or have received math awards, science awards, or other awards on a state or national level; and/or have attended competitive summer programs or taken college courses.

I have other talents and stand out (dance, music, theater, etc.).

I’d say I’m academically solid all around, but no major awards.

I have not received recognition/awards at school or outside of school, but there is still time.

10. Do you have a “hook” or special connection to a school?

I will be a recruited athlete, I am a first-generation college student, or I am Native American, Latino or African American, OR our family gave over ten million dollars to the school I will apply to (I know crazy, right?).

I am a legacy (at least one parent went to the school) or I have some kind of family connection, or I am Hispanic.

Our family has some lower-level connections with a few schools.

I am a typical applicant and proud of it.

11. What do your teachers say about you?

Teachers’ comments have typically been along the lines of “Best student I’ve ever taught” or “Top student in the class” or “A great contributor to class discussion.”

Teachers’ comments are generally very positive.

Teachers have strongly encouraged me to speak up and/or work harder in their classes; OR they have given standard praise (works hard, very diligent).

I really have not received much feedback from teachers which is great as I try to stay under their radar.
